FANART FAQ

Q: did you ever send out your drawings to oda himself for the usopp's pirate gallery thing?
A: no, but i will, if i ever get around to it.

Q: do you do other fanarts?
A: tried, they ended up looking like complete crap. i quit trying before i get sued by the mangaka or mobbed by angry fans. samples: 1 | 2 | 3

Q: what do you use to draw these fanarts?
A: i sketch with a 6H pencil because it's so thin the sketch doesn't smudge and leave marks when i erase, but at the same time the sketch is so thin it's hard to see. this is when the H or HB pencil comes into play to thicken lines a bit and do detailing. then i use microns to outline. 01 is my favorite for outlining, and 05 or 08 comes in handy for blackening (i still never know the correct terminology for this). i'd rather use 005 for thinner outlines, but 005 and i are like little, skinny, fragile girl and her big, husky, rowdy boyfriend, respectively.

Q: do you trace?
A: maybe when i was three. but unfortunately i'm older than that now.

Q: are you an art major?
A: if you call physics "art," sure. you're not entirely incorrect there. but in all seriousness, no. i tried, but every art teacher i showed my work to said i have no artistical talent. in the world that i live in, doodling does not equal art.

Q: what kind of paper do you use?
A: at least 24lbs, 92 brightness. i used to use just regular printer paper (20lbs, 80 brightness), but then i found better paper to work with. i'm very aggressive and angry when i draw, so the thicker the paper, the better.

Q: how long does it take to do one of them?
A: anywhere from thirty minutes to five hours

Q: do you take requests?
A: look! a flying pig!

Q: did you ever consider being a mangaka?
A: many times. but i'd never survive being a mangaka since it requires patience and the ability to write a good story.

Q: where do you get your inspiration to draw these things?
A: one piece

A: only if you don't give me deadlines. i personally would rather draw with no deadline and not get paid than to draw with deadlines and get shitloads of money for it.
